What our local SEO services include
Every plan covers the eight areas that decide whether a local business appears on Google Maps and in local results. Each one is built on Google's own guidance and the 2026 ranking factor research below.
Google Business Profile and GMB optimisation
Your Google Business Profile is the listing that appears in the map pack. We set the right primary and secondary categories, write a description that matches how customers search, add services, products, hours, attributes and photos, and keep the profile active with regular posts. Many people still call this GMB optimisation, from its old name Google My Business.
Local keyword and category research
We find the exact words customers in your area type into Google, then match them to your profile categories and website pages. Category choice matters more than most owners expect, because the primary category is the top map pack factor in Whitespark's 2026 survey.
Service and suburb pages
A dedicated page for each service is the strongest local organic factor in the same survey. We build or improve one page per core service, plus suburb pages where you have real work and reviews to show.
Local citations and NAP consistency
Your business name, address and phone number (NAP) must match everywhere it appears. We audit and fix your listings on Apple Business Connect, Bing Places, Yellow Pages, True Local, Hotfrog, Localsearch and industry directories, then add the ones you are missing.
Review growth and replies
We set up a simple way to ask every happy customer for a Google review, and we draft replies that sound like you. Everything follows the ACCC rules on online reviews, explained below.
Local links and mentions
Links from local news sites, suppliers, associations and community groups show Google that your business is known in your area. We earn them through real partnerships and content, never paid link schemes.
LocalBusiness schema and AI visibility
We add LocalBusiness and Service schema to your website so search engines and AI tools can read your details without guessing. We also check that your site does not block the crawlers that ChatGPT and Google use to find sources.
Geo grid rank tracking and reporting
A single ranking number hides the truth, because map results change street by street. We track your position across a grid of points over your service area and report the calls, website visits and direction requests your profile brings in.
Signs your business needs local SEO help
Most owners call us after noticing one of these:
Not showing up when nearby customers are ready to buy?
If two or more apply, a short audit will show where the gaps are and which fixes come first.
Competitors appear above you on Google Maps, even though you have been trading longer or have better reviews.
Your profile gets views but few calls. Google Business Profile insights show people find you, then choose someone else.
Your address or phone number differs between Google, Facebook, Yellow Pages and your website after a move or a new number.
Reviews have slowed down and the newest one is several months old, while BrightLocal's research shows most consumers only care about the last three months.
You show up for your business name but not for your services. People who already know you can find you, but new customers searching for the service cannot.
Your website has one page listing every service, so Google has no strong page to rank for each one.
How Google ranks local businesses in 2026
Google ranks local results on three things: relevance, distance and prominence. Relevance is how well your profile matches the search. Distance is how far you are from the person searching. Prominence is how well known your business is, which Google says includes reviews and links. Google also states there is no way to pay for a better local ranking.
Whitespark's 2026 Local Search Ranking Factors survey asked 47 local search experts to score 187 factors. The top results show where effort pays off.
Relevance
Match your profile and pages to each local search.
Distance
How close your real business location is to a searcher.
Prominence
Reviews, links and the signals that show customers trust you.
What affects Google Maps visibility
1. Primary Google Business Profile category
2. Proximity of the address to the searcher
3. Keywords in the business name
4. Physical address in the city searched
5. Business open at the time of search
What helps your website rank locally
1. A dedicated page for each service
2. City or suburb relevance of the content
3. Quality and authority of links to the domain
Two of the top five map factors, proximity and address, depend on where your business is located. You cannot change them with marketing. The rest you can control, and that is where a good local SEO company spends its time. Whitespark also found that review and behaviour signals gained weight since the last survey, while citations lost about half a point.
One warning on the third factor. Adding keywords to your business name only helps when they are part of your real, registered trading name. Stuffing extra keywords into the name breaks Google's guidelines and can get a profile suspended.
Getting named in ChatGPT and Google's AI answers
More customers now ask AI tools which local business to use. BrightLocal's 2026 Local Consumer Review Survey of 1,002 US adults found that use of ChatGPT and other AI tools for local recommendations rose from 6% to 45% in one year.
The same research team then ran about 200,000 local searches through ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews. They found:
Google Business Profile
Share of local AI citations attributed to Google Business Profile in the cited study.
Business websites
Share of AI local citations sourced from business websites.
Google Maps mentions
Share of tracked-business searches where Google Maps named a business.
The same study reported 33% to 38% for the AI tools, compared with 66% for Google Maps.
That makes the work the same at its core. A complete, active Google Business Profile and a clear website with one page per service feed both Google Maps and AI answers. These figures come from US data, as no comparable Australian study has been published yet.
Why reviews decide who gets the call
Reviews affect both your ranking and whether people choose you once they see you. In BrightLocal's 2026 survey of US consumers:
97% read reviews for local businesses
74% only care about reviews from the last three months
89% expect the owner to respond to reviews
31% will only use a business rated 4.5 stars or higher
Figures above: BrightLocal 2026 survey of US consumers, not an Australia-specific survey.
Real reviews. No shortcuts.
In Australia, how you collect reviews is also a legal matter. The ACCC says it is against the law to create fake reviews or arrange for others to write them. Incentives must be offered for any review, positive or negative, and must be disclosed. Removing or hiding genuine negative reviews can also mislead consumers. The Federal Court ordered HealthEngine to pay $2.9 million in penalties, including for publishing misleading patient reviews.
So we never buy reviews, write them or filter out unhappy customers before they reach Google. We make it easy for every customer to leave a review and we reply to all of them.
Who our local SEO agency works with
Our local SEO agency works with Australian businesses whose customers come from a set area, and we tailor local SEO services to how each type of business wins customers. We work with clients in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra and the Gold Coast, as well as regional towns.
Local SEO for small business
Most of our local clients are owner run businesses with one location. For them, a few well chosen changes to the profile, two or three strong service pages and a steady flow of reviews often matter more than a large monthly budget.
Service area businesses and tradies
Plumbers, electricians, cleaners and mobile services often hide their address on Google and list the suburbs they cover instead. Google allows this, but it changes how you rank, so we build the plan around your real service area.
Clinics, dentists and allied health
Health businesses also need to follow AHPRA's advertising rules, which limit testimonials about clinical care. We write profile posts, page content and review replies with those limits in mind.
Multi location businesses
Each location needs its own verified profile, its own page on your website and its own review flow. We set up a structure that grows as you add sites.
How much do local SEO services cost in Australia?
Managed local SEO services in Australia cost between $399 and $5,000 a month, based on the prices three Australian providers publish. Where you sit in that range depends on how competitive your area is and how many locations you have. Published prices in October 2026:
Provider
Published monthly pricing
Search Scope
From $399 a month plus a setup fee from $699, up to $3,000 a month
Digital Marketing Tribe
From $1,200 a month plus GST
First Page
Most clients invest $1,500 to $5,000 a month
Rexnain pricing: request a tailored quote. Your first audit has no setup fee.
Competition
A dentist in the Sydney CBD faces far more rivals than an electrician in a regional town.
Locations
Each extra location needs its own profile, page and review flow.
Starting point
A profile with the wrong category, mismatched listings or a slow website needs more work in the first months.
Content needed
Service and suburb pages take time to research and write well, so the number of pages affects the cost.
Timelines, locations and what SEO can actually do
Local SEO is a long-term channel, not a promise of instant results.
How long does local SEO take to work?
Most local SEO providers quote three to six months for measurable progress and six to twelve months for stable results. Profile fixes like the right category or missing hours can show within weeks. New pages, links and reviews take longer to build.
The timeline depends on three things. How many competitors are in your area, how far your business is from the places you want to rank, and how much the profile and website need fixing at the start. We show you a baseline in the first month so you can see the movement for yourself.
Can you rank my business in suburbs where I have no address?
Partly. Google Maps favours businesses close to the person searching, so ranking in the map pack far from your address is hard for anyone. What we can do is lift your map ranking across the area around your address and build suburb pages that rank in the normal search results below the map.
Those pages work when they show real proof from that suburb, such as jobs completed, photos and reviews from local customers. Thin pages that only swap the suburb name do not rank and can hurt the rest of your site.
Our local SEO process
A clear plan from audit to measurable local visibility.
Audit (weeks 1 to 2)
We review your Google Business Profile, website, listings, reviews and the top three competitors in your area, then send you a plain list of what is holding you back. You also get a baseline geo grid report so later progress is easy to measure.
Fix and build (weeks 3 to 6)
We correct your categories and listings, set up review requests, add schema and build or improve your core service pages.
Grow (weeks 7 to 12)
We post to your profile every week, earn local links, publish suburb pages where you have proof and reply to every review.
Report and scale (month 3 onward)
You get a monthly report with geo grid rankings, calls, direction requests and website enquiries, and we put more effort into what works.

Do you outsource your local SEO work overseas?

What is the difference between local SEO and regular SEO?
Local SEO targets searches with a place attached, such as a service plus a suburb, where Google shows a map pack. It focuses on your Google Business Profile, listings and reviews. Regular SEO targets searches without a location and relies more on content and links across the whole website.
Does local SEO help me show up in ChatGPT and Google's AI answers?
Yes, because AI tools draw on the same sources. In BrightLocal’s 2026 study, Google Business Profile was the largest single source AI tools cited for local searches, and business websites made up 42% of citations. A complete profile and a clear website help in both places.
How do reviews affect local SEO?
Reviews count toward prominence, one of Google’s three local ranking factors, and they shape whether people choose you. Recent reviews matter most, and replying to them shows customers you are active. In Australia, every review must be genuine and you cannot hide negative ones.
What happens if my Google Business Profile gets suspended?
We find the reason, usually a name, address or category that breaks Google’s guidelines, fix it and submit an appeal through Google’s support process. Suspensions are less likely when the profile follows the guidelines from the start, which is part of our first audit.
Do I need local SEO if I already run Google Ads?
Ads stop the moment you stop paying, while map pack rankings keep bringing in calls without a cost per click. Many businesses run both, using ads for urgent jobs and local SEO services for steady enquiries over time.
